Is there anything worse than freezing your feet while hunting? When you're out hunting, you'll spend hours in the woods. The shoes you choose must therefore resist wetness, keep out the cold and at the same time be comfortable after several hours of hiking. Many hunters don't really know what their boots require and just buy something that looks good. If you ask us, that's a big mistake. Therefore, today we will go through exactly what a good winter boot for hunting should be able to do, so that you can make a smarter choice.
Different types of hunting
There are several different types of hunting and then of course different boots fit differently. If you're going to sneak through the woods, you need a boot that's fairly soft. If, on the other hand, you need to get there quickly, you need a boot that won't give way. If you're going to sit on a pass for several hours, you need a warmer boot than if you're constantly moving around. This is because it is easier to keep your feet warm when you are out and about.
Different weather
A Swedish winter is unpredictable. It can go from plus 5 and bright sun to minus 10 and blizzard in less than an hour. Therefore, we always recommend that you plan for the worst. Buy a boot that can handle more freezing temperatures and more wetness than you think you need. Then you won't regret it when you're standing there in the middle of the forest.
Different terrain
Another thing that will affect which hunting boots you should buy is the terrain you are in. If you are hunting in a forest, you will need a different type of boot than if you are hunting in a wetland. If the ground is really wet, it might even be a good idea to use rubber boots. If the ground where you walk is very rocky with a lot of roots, you need a pair of boots that give the foot extra support. If, on the other hand, it is more easy going, you can take a softer boot that allows you to sneak better.
Price
The price of hunting boots will vary greatly. How much you want to spend is entirely up to you, but you'll regret it if you decide to save money and buy something because it's cheap and not because it's good. If you are new to hunting and want to try it out, we of course recommend that you buy a cheaper boot or borrow one from a friend. It's stupid to buy a boot if you might not use it. If, however, hunting is something you want to do, we at Wobbi recommend that you spend a little money and buy a proper pair of boots. They will last for years and are a really good investment.
