As you may have noticed, all our boots sold by Wobbi are made of EVA-Plastic. Of course, many people then wonder what this actually is and whether it is poisonous. We think EVA is a fantastic material and today we're going to go over everything you need to know about it.
EVA-Plastic is not toxic
The answer to your question is no, EVA plastic is not toxic. We would never make our boots from a harmful material as it goes against our basic principles. However, we understand that many people are worried about EVA material because it is a relatively new material that few people have heard of before.
The thing is that EVA-Plastic has actually been around longer than many people think and many products in your everyday life are made from it. Some examples of products that already use EVA-Plastic today are yoga mats, protective gloves, hoses and many electrical installations. The product has already been on the market for many years so if it was somehow dangerous it would have been discovered by now.
At the same time, we are one of the few companies that use the material to manufacture boots. Why have we chosen it, one might ask. That's exactly what we're going to try if you keep reading.
Plain plastic
Actually, you could actually say that EVA-Plastic is a completely ordinary plastic. The only thing that separates it from the plastic in your bags is its properties. Namely, EVA material is soft, transparent and flexible down to minus 70. In addition, it is completely waterproof. This makes it perfect for making boots as it will hold its shape as long as the temperature stays above -70 degrees (the Swedish record is -52.6 degrees).
The only thing Wobbi does is add dyes to the plastic, which are also completely non-toxic and harmless. So you have nothing to worry about when you buy our boots. To further prove that EVA-Plastic is completely harmless, we can add that children's pacifiers are often made from the same material.
Boots without EVA-Plastic?
Of course, we understand that there will be customers who want to buy boots without EVA-Plastic. Unfortunately then Wobbi is not the right company for you as all our boots use this material. We do this in order to be able to increase the quality at the same time as pushing down the prices. Our boots keep your feet warm down to -30, are completely waterproof and will last for years. It is impossible to beat our quality in the same price range and that is because we use EVA-Plastic in particular. This is also why we have no plans to stop it.

Of course there are other materials we can use to make our boots, but no other material can beat EVA-Plastic in the same price range. We want everyone in Sweden to have access to good and comfortable winter boots. That's why at Wobbi we use EVA-Plastic.
